There are many accidental cases that happen in a very unpredictable way and the only thing a person can do is rush to the nearest healthcare center. In a somewhat similar case a 34 years old male from Lahunipada area, working in a Kalunga establishment on night duty, was admitted to JP Hospital Rourkela with a severe head injury caused by the sudden dragging of his entire body with his head in front, towards the blade of a large fan machine, which rotated over his head in speed. The patient had suffered an extreme and deep injury to the scalp, cranial bone & brain matter.
The patient admitted under Dr. Susanta Kumar Patro Senior Consultant Neuro Surgeon was immediately shifted to the modular JP OT for an emergency life-saving surgery, which lasted hours. Any delay could have been fatal for the patient as his condition was precarious. All the dead bones & skin were removed and careful reconstruction of the injured & defective parts was done.
After intense treatment under the watchful eyes of Dr. Susanta Kumar Patra,the patient started recovering gradually. The patient was kept in ICU for 10 days and thereafter was stable enough to be discharged with advice for regular follow-up check-ups & medication.
