International Yoga Day celebrated at JP Hospital

International Yoga Day was celebrated yesterday June 21 at JP Hospital, Rourkela.
The International Day of Yoga is being celebrated across the world annually on June 21 since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.

The theme of International Yoga Day 2023 is ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit phrase found in Hindu texts meaning all living
beings on the earth are a family and that the “World Is One Family”. Yoga is a
physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India.

Interactive audience

A special yoga session was conducted by the renowned Yoga Coach & General
Secretary of Yogasana Sports Association of Sundergarh Mr. Jitendra Kumar and
His talented team. He highlighted the importance of yoga in day-to-day life and how
it strengthens the mind & body of a person if performed on a regular basis. A practical yoga
session and demo with different postures were conducted under his guidance by his
team members for the audience present at the event. This session lasted for almost
one and a half hours.

This program, anchored by Dr. Rajani Verma JP Consultant Psychiatrist, was attended
by all the patient’s attendants present along with the CEO of JP Hospital Dr. D K Mishra,
Medical Superintendent Dr. Debasish Patnaik, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. S K
Mahapatra, Principal of JP Nursing College Ms. Manju Rani Sahu and HOD
Physiotherapy Department Dr.Malaya Ranjan Parida. Managing Director of JP
Hospital Dr.Chandan Bansal also joined and thanked everyone for their presence in
this event. The attendees shared their views about the significance & importance of
International Yoga Day and how incorporating yoga in day-to-day life can be a game
changer for our mental & physical health.

A token of appreciation in the form of gifts was given to the Yoga Training Team led by
Mr. Jitendra Kumar for imparting yoga techniques and practical lessons to all.
