A program commemorating International Nurses Day was held at JP Hospital yesterday May 14, 2023, organized by JEWA (JP Hospital Employee’s Welfare Organization) at JP Convention Centre, JP Hospital Rourkela. International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on May 12 to highlight the contribution of nurses to the healthcare sector and also marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing.
This annual event of JP Hospital was attended by the nursing community from all over the region along with the nursing & other staff of JP Hospital.
The program was started with the customary lighting of lamps by all the dignitaries followed by a welcome address by DNS of JP Hospital Ms.Swapna Rani Jena.
Chief Guest for this event was Ms. Lalita Xalxo, NS RGH. Guest of Honors included Nursing Superintendents of various hospitals of Rourkela like Ms. Sushma Dungdung, Ms. Jyostna Biswas, Ms.Bismita Patel, Ms.Sunita Jena, Ms.Ameya Gokhra, Ms.Bidyut Pravha, Ms.Archana Kabi, Ms.Smita CR, Ms.Manjulata Sahoo, Ms. Sumita Panda and, Ms.Dorothia Toppo. They all shared their views about the significance of Nurses Day and how they get inspired to give their life for well-being of the society.
Dr.D K Mishra CEO of JP Hospital & President of JEWA, Dr.Debasish Patnaik Medical Superintendent, Dr. S K Mahapatra Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr.Biswajit Mohapatra OT Superintendent, Ms. Manjula Kumari Sahoo Principal JP Nursing College, Ms.Swarnaparava Senapati Vice-Principal, Ms.Suman Maharana ANS, Ms.Sashmita Pradhan ANS, Ms.Karishma Sahoo ANS and, Ms.Bandita Patra ANS along with other Nursing Staffs were also present. They all spoke about the significance of Nurses Day and the role of nursing staff in society.
Mr. Sanjay Bansal Chairman & Dr. Chandan Bansal Managing Director of JP Hospital also made a brief appearance from their busy schedule to thank all the guests for attending this event. A token of appreciation was also presented by them to the Chief Guest & Guests of Honor.
This program was marked by a competition among the staff for activities like Fancy Dress, Song, Dance, Mehendi, Essay, etc. A cultural program was also held by the nursing staff.
The Best Nurse Award, and Nightingale Award along with other prizes to the winners of different competitions & certificates of appreciation were given.
Other winners from different categories were also given a token of appreciation from the office bearers of JP Hospital.
After the program, a Mahabhog was arranged by team JEWA under the coordination of Ms.Roopa Banchor Vice-President & Mr. Hardeep Singh General Secretary of JEWA, for all the guests & employees of JP Hospital.
