Rourkela witnessed a remarkable initiative in healthcare training as the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Sundergarh Branch, joined hands with JP Hospitals to conduct an Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Workshop for adults and children. The event, part of the Zonal Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Programme 2024 was held at the JP City Centre, Uditnagar.
The workshop aimed to equip medical professionals with vital life-saving techniques for emergencies. Esteemed faculty members from the state IAP, including Dr. Nirmal Ch. Mahakud, Dr. Bandya Sahoo and Dr. Reshmi Mishra, spearheaded the training. They were supported by Sundergarh IAP branch representatives including Dr. Prashant Ku Patra (President), Dr. Jayant Acharya (General Secretary) and Dr. Archana Behera (Treasurer). The Sundergarh District faces significant challenges in emergency care due to its high rate of complications during critical medical events especially in remote areas. Such efforts underscore the importance of continuous skill development in the medical field, ensuring that communities, no matter how remote, have access to timely and effective care during emergencies.
This hands-on training session focused on enhancing CPR skills among participants, ensuring they are better prepared to respond to critical situations involving adults and children. The collaboration between IAP and JP Hospitals underscores the importance of community-oriented healthcare initiatives, aimed at improving emergency response capabilities. The event was coordinated by Dr Namita Sahu (Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist) along with the other staffs of JP Hospital.
The event drew positive feedback from attendees, with many appreciating the practical approach and detailed demonstrations. Such workshops are a testament to the growing emphasis on lifesaving skills, paving the way for better medical preparedness in the region.
This workshop addressed these challenges by empowering medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, with life-saving CPR techniques for both adults and children.
