In a spirited display of teamwork and a sense of togetherness, the JEWA (Jaiprakash Hospital Employees’ Welfare Association) organized a vibrant cricket tournament at the LIC Stadium in Civil Township, Rourkela. The event, aimed at strengthening bonds among staff members, saw enthusiastic participation from employees across various departments, creating a memorable day of sportsmanship and celebration.
The tournament featured seven teams in total, with five men’s and two women’s teams named Team Pushpa, Team Gabbar, Team Singham, Team Lagaan, Team Bahubali, Team Manikarnika and Team Padmavati competing in a series of high-energy matches. Each game showcased a mix of talent, determination, and team spirit, as participants gave their best to secure victories for their respective teams. After an exhilarating series of matches, Team Pushpa, led by Mr Ajaya Kumar Swain (Head of General Maintenance) claimed the championship. Mr Ajaya and his team were appreciated for their exceptional coordination and skill which set them apart from the competition. The tournament started from 7AM in the morning & ended by 5PM in the evening. There was a huge gathering of the spectators to watch the tournament.
Adding to the event’s prestige was the presence of several esteemed dignitaries. Dr. Sajan Agarwal, serving as the chief guest, applauded the participants and the organizers for their efforts in promoting such a unifying initiative. Guests of honour Dr. G. N. Sahu and Dr. P. Lal also commended the event’s success, emphasizing the critical role of recreational activities in encouraging a harmonious work environment. Special guests Dr. Kamal Agarwal and Mr. Prem Agarwal shared his words of encouragement and appreciation for the participants.
