World Osteoporosis Day was celebrated today (Oct 20) at JP Hospital Rourkela by Orthopedic Department. This day is observed every year on Oct 20 to promote the early diagnosis of osteoporosis, its treatment & preventive tips for strong bones. Osteoporosis is a medical condition – which becomes more pronounced with ageing in which bones become very weak and brittle. Because of the asymptomatic nature of this bone disorder, it is essential to look after bone health to prevent complications related to bone fractures.
The theme of World Osteoporosis Day 2022 is “Step Up For Bone Health”.
The event was marked by a media interaction with JP Orthopedic Department headed by Dr. S K Mahapatra (Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon & also the Dy. Medical Superintendent of JP Hospital) and Dr. Prasenjit Paul (Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon), followed by a Free Workshop on how to prevent osteoporosis.
This program was attended among others by the JP Orthopedic Team as above along with Dr. Debasish Patnaik (Medical Superintendent), Dr. Biswajit Mahapatra (Dean Academics), etc. This event was also marked by the felicitation of orthopaedic patients who were successfully treated at JP Hospital. All patients present at the event shared their treatment experience at JP Hospital. Media persons were also present and they interacted with JP Orthopedic Team about various aspects of the bone disorder and the importance of World Osteoporosis Day. An interactive session with the audience was also held where many queries regarding bone-related issues were answered by Dr. S K Mahapatra & Dr. Prasenjit Paul.
