JP Hospital, Rourkela has once again made history with the birth of the heaviest baby ever delivered in the region. On the night of August 4th, 2024 a patient named Sadia Sumbul, age 31 years old, gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing 5.4 kg. The delivery took place at 11 PM and both mother and baby are doing well without any complications.
Despite having a very normal diet plan throughout her pregnancy, Sadia’s baby girl set a new record with her birth weight. The patient was admitted at the night with decreased baby movement and the mother had some suspicious ECG changes. After proper consultation with the anesthesiologist, the delivery was performed by Dr. Sujata Kumari through a cesarean section at JP Hospital. This modern operating theatre is renowned for its advanced facilities and has been pivotal in handling critical cases with high success rates.
Dr. Sujata Kumari (Senior Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology), along with a team of highly and excellent supporting OT staff, ensured the safe delivery of the baby. The team’s expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies and complex deliveries is commendable. The mother is also fine & recovering very fast.
The baby is in observation under Dr. Namita Sahu (Senior Consultant Neonatologist & Paediatrician). The baby is doing well with sugar monitoring (query infant of diabetic mother) and appropriate measured feeds with physiological appropriate weight loss, stool & urine output is normal.
